The Abrasocord 700 4.0mm Welding Electrode by WIA is a high-performance arc electrode designed for demanding hardfacing applications in agricultural and earthmoving industries. This electrode is suitable for both AC and DC welding and is engineered to deposit an air-hardening martensitic Cr-Mo-V steel alloy, resulting in one of the hardest steel overlays available.

Abrasocord 700 electrodes provide excellent resistance to abrasion under low to moderate impact conditions and are free from relief checks. The weld metal can be hot forged and is not machinable in the as-welded condition without prior heat treatment. Typical hardness values are 53–56 HRc for single-layer deposits on mild steel and 55–60 HRc for multi-layer applications, though actual hardness may vary depending on base metal and dilution.

This electrode is ideal for components subject to high wear and fatigue, such as post hole augers, agricultural points, shears, tynes, grader blades, and cultivator blades. It is also suitable for other parts that experience flexing or fatigue during service.
