The Fronius Fortis 500C XT is a water-cooled multiprocess welding system designed for professional welders requiring versatility across MIG, TIG, and Stick welding processes. It is engineered to handle a wide range of materials including steel, aluminum, and stainless steel, making it suitable for steel construction and general fabrication applications.
This compact and ergonomic welding machine supports multi-voltage input (208-600V, single or three phase) and delivers a robust welding current range from 3 to 500 amps depending on the process. The Fortis 500C XT features up to 240 optimized characteristics tailored for steel construction, with pulsed arc capabilities for aluminum and stainless steel welding. Its integrated carrying handles enhance portability on job sites.
Key technical specifications include a weight of 43.5 kg and dimensions of 681×367×555 mm. It operates at mains frequencies of 50/60 Hz with voltage tolerances of ±10% and -10/+6%. Duty cycles are rated at 500 A for 40%, 430 A for 60%, and 360 A for 100%. The machine supports wire diameters from 0.8 to 1.6 mm with a 4-roller wire feeder system and wire speeds ranging from 1 to 25 m/min.
The Fortis 500C XT incorporates advanced features such as the Fronius Trans Steel 5000 technology for enhanced welding quality and a clear digital user interface that displays all key welding parameters. It supports over 30 system languages and customizable settings for precise control. The included welding parameter wizard recommends optimal settings to reduce errors and improve efficiency.
Innovative functionalities include Synchropulse technology, which alternates welding power at frequencies up to 5 Hz to enable faster welding with TIG-like seam appearance, especially beneficial for vertical-up aluminum welding. The 4-roll drive system minimizes bird nesting when welding aluminum, eliminating the need for spool or push-pull guns. Additionally, the "Steel Root" program facilitates simple open root welding with a stable dip transfer arc for bridging wide gaps.
Note: This package includes the MIG torch; TIG and Stick leads are sold separately.
