Lanthanated tungsten electrodes are designed for TIG welding applications, suitable for both DC and AC welding processes. These electrodes are ideal for welding a wide range of metals including non-alloyed and high-alloyed steel, aluminium, titanium, nickel, copper, and magnesium alloys, as well as micro-plasma welding.

Enhanced with lanthanum oxide (La2O3), these electrodes offer improved ignition characteristics and excellent arc starts at low amperages. They provide long electrode life and stability with a low burn-off rate, making them reliable for critical applications such as in the aviation industry. Lanthanated tungsten electrodes can effectively replace thoriated tungsten electrodes and perform well on AC or DC electrode negative.

Similar to ceriated electrodes, they allow the arc to be started and maintained at lower voltages, reducing the risk of flaking and breakdown.
